Music And Traditions

  Well, going off from my experience with my family. We have this tradition we do every year for New Years even. While many people cheer as the clock strikes midnight and count down the last seconds of the year, our tradition is a bit different. We worship and reflect as we begin the new year by playing “My God Is Awesome” as soon as the clock strikes 12:00 with a toast looking forward to the New Year. It's a time of respect and unity, serving as a reminder that God is always in charge, regardless of what the coming year may bring. This tradition sets the tone for the rest of the year. It reminds us to start with gratitude, faith, and a mindset focused on God’s blessings.  When I was younger, we would have a big family reunion every 2 years as traditional. Were we go to North Carolina or Virginia or wherever we set the location to be at. No matter where we hosted it at, one song I knew would always get played was “Candy Rain" by Soul for Real”.   My name is Denard and I’m a student just like y’all. I’m a sophomore at Converse University and I run track for the track team. I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and I have been to many places in the states before. I have always been able to explore and experience different styles of music so hopefully this class could help me branch out some more. A few of my top genres (from Apple music) would be Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B/Soul.
