Music & Me (By Denard)

My name is Denard and I’m a student just like y’all. I’m a sophomore at Converse University and I run track for the track team. I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and I have been to many places in the states before. I have always been able to explore and experience different styles of music so hopefully this class could help me branch out some more. A few of my top genres (from Apple music) would be Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B/Soul. Just from being in Spartanburg for 2 years, there's has been a different in the type of music people play up here then from Columbia.

1)     1) A recent artist who just now started to hit the scene that I’ve been really listening to heavily is called Nino paid. This past summer I was working at a food produce plant where the things I had to do were very time-consuming. So, to pass the time I would play new music I’ve never heard of and then 1 day I randomly find this particular artist. His music is very dynamic and creative. He also is a good storyteller about real life scenarios that certain people may go through in life for example there a song called “Joey Story” that goes deep with real world problems. His style, which combines elements of hip-hop, trap, and electronic music with soulful melodies and, theatrical sounds, is why I truly like it. His music often features catchy hooks and smooth transitions, creating a dynamic and immersive listening experience. He just released a new album called “Love Me As I Am” and my favorite song from is “Something To Live For”.

    2)  From playing all different types of sports like basketball, football, and track. You tend to pick up mental habits from each sport that helps you with the other. There have been multiple times where I’ll play different types of music and songs to get me prepared for a game or meet. Then it’s been other times in moments for me to be calm and at easy. For track meets, usually I’ll need music that gets me excited, so I’ll play “Shoota” by Playboi and Lil Uzi. I’ve been doing that for a couple of years, and it works. I guess it was just something that resonated with me when I was younger.

Sometimes I would play Bryson Triller after a game or meet just to help the adrenaline to go down.

I’m taking an online class that is literally based off “The Beatles” and listening to their music. For the majority of the songs that I've heard from the class. They weren’t that bad, and I enjoy most of them. The only thing was this one song that I just didn’t like, and it stood out from the rest of their music. “Wild Honey Pie” is what the song was called, and it had a very unique sound to it. It sounded like a banjo playing in the background of the main song. The song just didn’t fit my music style and that’s ok, as long as I remember for the quiz for this online class.

  1. Denard Nino Paid's song you posted in your blog is so unique. At first, I was skeptical, but something about the calm piano with the fast beat and rap on top. It's not traditional, but I really vibe with it. The Beatles song Wild Honey Pie is very strange and not my type of music. I would be perfectly fine if I never heard that song again.

  2. hey! I I found Nino Paid as someone new and interesting to me because I haven't heard of him until now. I like the sample you provided and I'll definitely look into him more. I also listen to Uzi at my meets so I liked your post with Shoota the best. I'm also in the Beatles class and I agree, Wild Honey Pie is def not my fav and is really different from what they usually create.

  3. Denard, I really enjoyed listening to shoota as I as well listened to that before, so that's definitely very nice. I found Nino paid someone interesting and new because I don't think I've ever heard of him until now. I cannot lie though I enjoyed listening to the song so maybe he'll be someone that I listen to more. Bryson Tiller also is a known artist that I listen to but haven't heard many songs of him. so, I enjoyed the song you provided because I have not listened to it.
